Windybush Civic Association Bi-Annual Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2011
- Treasury report was reviewed by Brian Cuddy, Treasurer
- He pointed out that not all residents are paying their dues. Some Windybush home owners are years behind.
- A vote was taken to increase our Civic Association dues, currently at $20, to $25. This would align it with other Civic Associations in our area. The extra money could be donated to the pool and be used for expected capital improvements (i.e., sign, footbridge)
- Briggs Pletcher, Vice President, discussed the Civic Association bylaws. There is a need to update the bylaws as far as term limits, methods to notify residents, and other items currently listed.
- He also discussed bringing our current deed restrictions up to date, and enforcement of those restrictions. Bryon Short, our State Representative who was in attendance, has a contact at the CCOBH who might be able to help with this matter.
- David Fruchtman, President, has requested sand barrels from the county. Depending on how many we are allotted, if any, they will be placed at known icy locations within Windybush. We currently have volunteers within the neighborhood who have given permission for the sand barrels to be placed in front of their homes.
- He purchased a "No Solicitation" sign to be placed below the Windybush sign at the development entrance. Bryon Short mentioned that there is law in committee that will require Photo ID anyone who comes to solicit in the neighborhood.
- The footbridge that connects the two Windybushes will at some point in the future need some maintenance. Last year it was power washed and stained. A support bar for the hand railing has been replaced.
- Dog walkers have been noted by some in attendance have not always been picking up after them.
- For Brian reminded everyone to leave lights on at night, lock your car and front doors.
- Walkers should always wear reflective clothing or carry flashlights.
- It was brought up by some in attendance the safety and traffic congestion concerns by having the school bus stop at the front of the development. Also the complaints of the homeowner who lives at the corner by the bus stop. A possible alternate location for the stop was discussed. Bryon Short will pass along a letter drafted by a resident to the school superintendent to explore this possibility.
- It was discussed that there are too many different trash collection companies coming into the community. That many very heavy trucks will take a toll on our streets. Bryon mentioned other communities have this concern and have approached trash haulers to submit bids. Will furnish us the names of the haulers who are interested in submitting bids.
- Also since the meeting is held at night and some elderly residence may be reluctant to drive, it was suggested that people planning to attend will offer rides to those interested.
- Going forward, our Spring meetings will be held the first Sunday in May, the Fall meeting will be held the first Sunday in November
